Have you heard someone mention storage unit auctions as a good way to find merchandise to sell? Not sure if they really exist?

They Do!!

And they are happening every day!

Yes, it is true! Storage unit auctions do exist and they are happening everyday! A Storage unit auction happens when a storage unit renter becomes delinquent or behind on their payments. They are sent letters and called several times warning them that if they do not catch up on their payments that their unit and whatever items in it will be auctioned off. The owner of the storage unit complex is required to list a classified ad in the legal notices section stating when they are intending to auctions off a storage unit. This is probably the best way to know of auctions going on in your area!

Find an Auction!

First things first you need to find out when and where these auctions take place. The best place to look is in your legal section in your local newspapers' classifieds. You will see what complex is having the auction as well as day, time, and units being auctioned off that day.

Go to the Auction!

Next you will want to pick out one that you can attend. Make sure to show up  at least 15 minutes early. Most places have you sign in if you are going to be participating in the auction. A lot of places also only except cash! So make sure to bring some! This also a good time to get to know some of the other auction goers most are more than willing to share their knowledge with you!

The Auction Begins!

Let the fun begin! Some storage complexes hire auctioneer companies to perform their auction or some just a manager performs the auction. They will take you to the first unit up for auction. The lock will be cut and the door will be opened. This is where a big flash light comes in handy! Most do not let you enter the room you have to stand in the door way and take a quick peek. Usually they will give everyone adequate time to take a quick peek at what is inside before they begin the auction. They will then start the auction. It is verbal so if you intend on bidding make sure they know you are!! Happy Bidding!! There are tons of tips and techniques used but I am not going to go too in depth in this ebook!

You Won!

Once you have won an auction you will want to have your own pad lock to lock your unit up as the auction continues. Once the whole auction is complete you will have to go to the office and pay for your winning bid. Like I said before most places only except cash so make sure to have some! Once you have paid the unit is all yours including everything in it! The storage complex will usually require you to have it cleaned out in a few days. Some will require a cleaning deposit to make sure you don't leave junk in it. Now go look and see what you won!! This is also where a truck or trailer comes in handy!

All stocked up now Sell that Stuff!

Now that you have won a bunch of stuff you need to sell it and make big profits!! Wondering what kind of stuff you will be winning in these auctions to sell?? The sky is the limit. Some usual stuff is furniture, appliances, home goods, sporting goods, anitques, cds, dvds, all sorts of stuff you never know what you may find!

I like to sell my smaller collectible stuff on Ebay. The bigger items that would be near impossible to ship I put them up on my local craigslist as well as local classifieds.

The next few pages will be some examples of what I have won at auctions and how much I have paid for auctions and how much I profited! Enjoy!

My very 1st storage unit that I won!

I paid a total of $40.00 for

it! It was a smaller closet

size storage unit. Here are

a few things that I found in it!

   Brand New Violin!!Sold

on Craigslist for $100!!

Snow Skis and Gear!

Sold on Craigslist for

$60!!

 Tanzanite/Diamond/18k

Gold Ring!!

Sold on Ebay

$140!!

Amethyst/Topaz/14k

White Gold Pendant!!

Sold on ebay

$40!!

This was just a few things from this auction that I

sold! I think the total for the particular auction was

in the $500 profit range!! All that for spending

40 Bucks!!

Here is another example. This was 2 units

auctioned together they were owned by the same

person. I won them both for $240! Here are some

things that were in this unit!

Red Genuine leather Sofa and 2 recliners. Sold

these on Craigslist for $200.

A whole bunch of

American Eagle

clothing! Sold this

group of shirts on Ebay

for around $75! There

were also about 5 pairs

of AE jeans that sold for

about $15 a piece!

Dj Equipment! Sold on

Ebay for $120! There

were also around 500

vinyl records which got

me around $400

This was just a few things in this auction I won! My

profits from this Auction were $1000-$1200 on the

$240 I invested! Not too bad!

So if you were skeptical about whether these really exist and if there was any money to be made doing this, I hope I showed you that it is possible and it is quite easy.
