Yes, it is true! Storage unit auctions do exist and they are happening everyday! A Storage unit auction happens when a storage unit renter becomes delinquent or behind on their payments. They are sent letters and called several times warning them that if they do not catch up on their payments that their unit and whatever items in it will be auctioned off. The owner of the storage unit complex is required to list a classified ad in the legal notices section stating when they are intending to auctions off a storage unit.
